Sunday Evening

Well, it was a pretty good weekend, quite a bit got done. Friday I played Rock Band with Caitlin. Saturday took Jenn to a party and managed to get 2 layouts done--that was great.  Had blizzards--yum! Today I made apple crisp and cornbread. Got my week pretty much planned for school, so that was great. Picked up some steaks and Dad came for dinner. We watched football and now we are watching the premiere of Once Upon a Time. Have a great week!

Thursday, Once Again!

SO, here we are and it's Thursday once again! Wow, another week flying by! I had a pretty good week--had my classes pretty much planned from last Sunday, which meant not too much work during the week except some marking. I do have a test to set for Monday, but I have the weekend to do that. My other class is almost at test time, a couple of more things for them to complete. Tomorrow is basically a work day for both classes and that's good because we are having our Terry Fox Run tomorrow afternoon, so periods are a little shortened.
Looking forward to the weekend and hoping to scrap and/or make a few more Christmas Cards. I started and made 5 last week, but haven't got to anymore since.  Also printed some photos out for layouts for the girls early years and didn't get to them either. Maybe this weekend!
I am SO proud of myself! I was on SGD website and they were having a sale and I had a huge cart of stuff I was going to buy since everything was 20% off and then I decided, I REALLY don't need anything right now! I have some stamps on order at the Nook and may get Janice to order me some more Dylusion Inks, so I didn't need to spend another $65.00. So I deleted my cart! Yay for me!!! LOL
So nothing much else going on. My dd is doing awesome with her flute--playing a couple of easy tunes already! And she was off 2 days this week with a sore throat!
Both of the girls seem to be on top of things and aren't complaining too much about homework and stuff so that is a good thing!
So tomorrow is Friday! Hurray! Hope you have a good one!

I really don't like going to the dentist!

Today I had an appointment for scaling at the dentist--I REALLY, REALLY, REALLY hate having that done! But anyway they are all sparkly clean now and I don't have to go back until December.
Other than that, nothing much happening around here. Jenn stayed home from school again--she still wasn't feeling well but she will be back to school tomorrow. So nothing else new today!

Monday, Monday

And now it is Monday already! WOW! Where did the weekend go? I actually did some creating on Friday evening. Caitlin had a sleepover with some friends and so I gathered up my new Simple Stories Christmas papers and some other fun stuff and made 5 Christmas cards.  This was after making brownies with Jenn and watching movie with Jenn & Jeff.  I had anticipated creating on Saturday and even printed out some photos of the girls to work on a challenge from the Nook's crop, but I ended up shopping for most of the afternoon with the girls and then came home and made dinner. After dinner, Jenn was in a "bonding" mood so we played Win, Lose or Draw (a game like Pictionary) and then after that we played some video games. Sunday was a busy day getting school stuff done, closing the pool for the year and heading to BIL's for cake & ice cream after dinner, so no time for crafting there.
I could have done some crafting tonight, but I was tired.  I had to make an appointment for Angel at the vet to have a nail looked at--she cracked it and the groomer said she was afraid to cut it and hurt her when she was at Petsmart the other day. Luckily, I was able to get her in today. Then I picked up Caitlin & her friends from school, came home and hung out with Jenn, who stayed home from school today with a sore throat, finished up some marking and then made a full dinner. Jeff was late coming home, so dinner hour was extended and by the time everything was cleaned up, I just wanted to chill and watch some of the premieres on television--so I did! Oh ya, I also threw in a couple of loads of laundry and helped Caitlin make some pockets for her binder out of duct tape--they worked out great.
That was my Monday, I hope Tuesday is a little on the slow side!

Thursday already!

How the heck did it get to be Thursday???? WOW! This week has flown by! My friend, Nina, & I had dinner on Tuesday at Turtle Jacks after shopping Forever Scrapbooks which is closing--very sad! And the next thing I know it is Thursday Night.

So how have I been doing with my Art 30? Well...........Monday I dabbled a little with some stuff, Tuesday I was out so didn't do anything, Wednesday made a page for the art journal totally inspired by Dyan Reaveley. I'm LOVING the Dylusions Inks I picked up last weekend from Janice at the Nook! I also used lots of the Tim Holtz stamps I have, some other stamps and a couple of stencils, added in some distress ink and a little bit of  silver H2O and created my own girl based on Dyan's cool stamps! I'm very excited how it turned out!
Tonight I actually organized some old photos of the girls when they were little to do a couple of pages over the weekend for the Nook Crop. I have some photos of the girls when they were riding ponies at the Winona Peach Festival, so I will do up a couple of layouts with them. Then of course there was the time that Jenn got into the Penneton Cream and had it all over her face, hands and outfit and in her hair! The outfit had to be thrown out, but there are photos to document it! I have a few other photos of her too. It will be interesting because their books are 8 1/2 x 11 up until they get to school age. I really need to finish those books up! That may take me awhile!
In other news, my daughter with the "perfect flute lips" actually got to bring her flute home yesterday and today. She is so excited to be playing an instrument--she knows 3 notes--and she practised them a couple of times tonight! She is so funny!  She wants to join the junior band and go on the band trip. We'll see about that!

Well the weather is supposed to be wet and cool this weekend, so maybe I will be able to create some of those layouts this weekend!  My cleaning is done and so is the wash, and I will try and get the groceries done tomorrow also.  Caitlin is having a sleepover tomorrow night, so I may not get much done then, but I was thinking of starting on some Christmas cards, so that may be on the agenda!
So, I did pretty good with my Art-30 this week--lots of different things, but still creating! We'll see if it will continue this weekend!

So, I wasn't creative with paper today, but I did do some baking which I have not done for a LONG time! I tried a new recipe for Apple Pie Bars from the Kraft Website. They turned out very well and I only made half the recipe which was the perfect amount.
My Dad came over for dinner and to watch the football game and after he left, we watched a movie. Now it is more football and I have some work to do for school.
I also have decided I have to let things go. Reading the responses from the Big Idea Festival from Big Picture Classes from a number of the contributors, the over all idea I'm getting is to be real, enjoy the good stuff and don't sweat the little stuff. This is difficult for me. For one thing a family member is driving me crazy and I think it is just that I have endured it for so long, and I'm getting older, that I'm just tired of dealing with it! Then there is another situation, which I won't go into, regarding a member on a board I'm on that bothers me, but I shouldn't let it.
I think my problem is I always want things to be fair. And obviously life is usually not fair. So when people take advantage of other people it bothers me.  And I guess if it doesn't bother the person being taken advantage of, then it shouldn't bother me.  I think I need to develop a list of mantras to help guide my life.

Mantra #1 Let it go!
Mantra #2 Always be fair to others, even though others may take advantage.

Missed yesterday for a post, but that's okay.  Did some doodling in my Art Journal for my Art-30. Tomorrow I'm making a trip to the Nook to pick up some new goodies! Hope to be able to play a bit, although dd is having a sleepover tomorrow night it sounds like and that takes place where my scrapping place is. I may be bringing a few things upstairs to work on. I do need to do Corinne's art journal for the Nook's circle journal, so I could probably work on that. It is also the September Nook Crop this weekend til next weekend. I hope to get to some of the challenges!

On a roll! Second day in a row! LOL  I actually did about an hour of creating last night to complete my card for the September Nook Card Swap--just need to add a little sparkle and I'll be done--ahead of time! Whoo hoo! Going to do some doodling in my art journal after I finish this blog entry to get in my art30 today.  I'm also looking at buying a Canon Selphy or Epson Picturemate Compact printer to make printing the odd photo easier. I'm still in the research stage, so we'll see if I get past that stage soon.  Looking forward to the Nook Crop this weekend also!

Too Long!

Wow! It has been SOOOOOO long since I posted anything on this blog--it is embarassing.  In fact, there is a new set up for posting and it threw me a little!
Anyway, I have decided to embark on a new journey--ART 30.  What is that? Well, I am doing The Big Idea Festival at Big Picture Studios that started last Tuesday.  I have to say it hasn't been exactly what I thought it was going to be, but Sunday May Flaum (www.mayflaum.com) posted her big idea about "Happy Crafting"  It got me thinking about all the excuses I use for not being creative and I decided that needs to stop! SO I decided that I am going to try and spend 30 minutes (at least) EVERYDAY doing something creative (surfing the net for ideas DOES NOT COUNT anymore! LOL).  So last night it was getting late, but I have a card swap to do for the Nook for September and it is all about Washi tape. I headed downstairs and started playing around a little and managed to make two types of flowers using the Washi tape. Whether or not I actually use them on the card, doesn't matter--it is the creating time that is important. So I have done something for 2 days in a row now that is creative! Whoo hoo!
My other idea is to create a little box of supplies that I can bring upstairs quick and work on stuff-for example Christmas Cards! If I have all that I need then I can just work on them when I have some time--when Jenn is doing homework, or while I'm cooking dinner and stuff.  So the message here is NO MORE EXCUSES!!! We'll see! Wish me luck on my ART 30 endeavour! See you tomorrow!
